Risk Reduction Alcohol Education and Diversion Program

This program provides risk reduction classes for youth ticketed by law enforcement for alcohol/drug use or possession. 

Increase knowledge of substance abuse and decrease risky behaviors related to substance abuse.  This is a youth diversion program.  Identified youth complete a SASSI screening with results submitted to parents and JCO.

Direct Intake of Juveniles Cited for Non-detainable Offenses

Provides supervision of juveniles brought to them by law enforcement for non-detainable offenses 24/7 until released to a legal guardian.

Increase immediate accountability of juveniles.
Increase proper identification and parental notification.
Reduce recidivism. This program addresses a barrier in the system of youth giving false information or interfering in the parental notification process.

Provides training in specific therapy approach designed to specifically address disruptive behaviors in young children (ages 2-7). Model is effective in treating oppositional behavior, inattention, distractibility and aggression.

Scholarships for 8 master-level clinical therapists licensed in the mental health field serving Pottawattamie County and CB service area. Implemented to treat children age 2-7 years and their parents. Technique has been effective with parents in the child protection system and/or parents in recovery of substance abuse.

Comprehensive parent education and support program utilizing a home visitation model and evidence-based curricula and programs. Infant Massage and Happiest Baby taught.  Maternal Depression Screening and Touchpoints site.
Collaborative program includes services from AEA 13, Visiting Nurses newborn visit, and ISUE Teen Parenting Program.

Decrease child abuse and neglect.

Increase school readiness and success.

Families with children prenatal through 3 months for referral in Pottawattamie County.  Families may receive services as needed until child is five years old. Parent/family groups open to anyone with child under school-age.
Shared Vision and Early Head Start programs accept referrals through 18 months of age. Services are available in English and Spanish and at the Phoenix House.
