ABOUT PROMISE PARTNERS
![]()
Promise Partners, Pottawattamie County’s Alliance for Youth was established as an infrastructure to form an umbrella organization used to oversee state and local initiatives in Pottawattamie County. The purpose of Promise Partners is to mobilize the community to organize a single county-wide plan for child safety, family stability, and positive youth development.
Promise Partners has a community coalition that acts as the planning committee that meets on a monthly basis. The coalition engages representatives from Department of Humans Services, Juvenile Court Services, education agencies and schools, elected officials, law enforcement, early childhood, private and public health agencies, substance abuse treatment and prevention, private human service providers, non-profits, civic and faith-based organizations, business, parents, youth, and community leaders.
The Promise Partners Governance Board has representation from the Department of Human Services, Juvenile Courts, County Board of Supervisors, health, education, faith, business, parent, and citizens. Funding and service decisions made by the board are recommended through the community coalition.
Approximately $2 million of funding from the Child Welfare Decategorization Program, Community Empowerment Area, Criminal and Juvenile Justice Planning, and Community Partnerships for Protecting Children is used throughout Pottawattamie County to promote family stability, child well-being, positive youth development, and school readiness through a local decision making process.
Promise Partners ensures community planning throughout the county by providing funding to address local needs which have been identified by community partners and are in accordance with state mandates. Strategies supported by Promise Partners vary greatly; from ensuring quality infant childcare and pre-school quality assurance to methamphetamine recovery, positive youth development, and at-risk youth intervention and outreach.
